Routes that group Pohang’s 12 Scenic Views and cultural spaces by purpose. Each is a sample one-day itinerary. Travel by car or public transit; for detailed directions, use the Naver/Kakao links on the Pohang 12 Scenic Views page.

Sea & nightHalf to full day

Sea & Night Route

A route with coastal scenery by day and Pohang’s iconic steelworks night view after dark.

  1. Homi Peninsula Coastal Trail — coastal trekking and cliff views
  2. Homigot — Hands of Harmony and the National Lighthouse Museum (~45 min)
  3. Pohang Canal — waterside walk and photo spots (~10 min)
  4. Yeongildae Beach — finish with the pavilion and POSCO night view (~15 min)

If night views are your goal, plan to reach Yeongildae around sunset.

Nature & trekkingFull day

Nature & Trekking Route

A route along valleys and forest — especially good for a summer escape and autumn foliage.

  1. Naeyeonsan Twelve Falls — valley trekking from Bogyeongsa Temple
  2. Gyeongbuk Arboretum — rare plants and forest, closed Mondays (~50 min)
  3. Jukjang Haok Valley — water play and camping (~60 min)
  4. Unjesan Oeosa Temple — finish with a walk on the Eoji Lake trail (~30 min)

Valleys and mountain paths take time and have little public transport. A car is recommended; head down before sunset.

History & cultureFull day

History & Culture Route

A route through Pohang’s history, from Silla legend to a Joseon fortress and modern architecture.

  1. Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park — Silla foundation legend and Gwibigo hall
  2. Janggi Fortress & Exile Culture Village — a Joseon-era fortress and traditional-culture experience (~35 min)
  3. Guryongpo Japanese House Street — modern heritage and cozy cafés (~35 min)
  4. Guryongpo Gwamegi Culture Center — gwamegi history and fishing culture, closed Mondays (walkable)
Family weekendHalf day

Family & Weekend Route

A route close to downtown with short travel, great for going out with kids.

  1. Railroad Forest & Garden of Fire — a downtown forest walk
  2. Pohang Museum of Art (POMA) — kids/family programs, closed Mondays
  3. Pohang Canal — waterfront park and cruise (~10 min)
  4. Jukdo Market — seafood and local specialties

Many museums and culture centers close on Mondays. Plan for a weekend.
